Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Once again, our readings deal with God’s call or invitation to us. The gist of the readings this Sunday, however, deal more with our response. The Gospel passage from Mark today, (see Mark 1:14–20), in particular, allows us to see this. The disciples were all in when Jesus called them away from their nets and fishing boats along the shore of the Sea of Galilee. What if we were those disciples that day? What would it have looked like? Perhaps we could return this scene in prayer and imagine what Jesus’ Presence and invitation to His first disciples must have been like to have dropped everything to follow Him. How would our life change if we understood Jesus and the Kingdom of God to be as important and immediate in our lives? Are we “all in” for Jesus’ call? If not, what’s preventing us, what’s standing in the way? May God help each of us to experience Jesus and the Kingdom of God with such immediacy and remember that He calls us each day to follow Him. In Christ’s Peace, Fr. O’Neill
